HOW TO USE NOVA TO CREATE YOUR PERSONALISED TAPPING SCRIPTS

What Nova is 


 Nova is a supportive EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) tapping guide for 

children and teens (10–18). She uses the childs own journal entry in their own words and their SUDS score (0–10) to create short, clear 3-round tapping scripts that calm emotional stress and Anxiety, organise thoughts, and Create a feeling of Peace with the situation or memory. 

EFT works by gently tapping on acupressure points while focusing on 

distressing thoughts or feelings. This process calms the amygdala 

(fight/flight centre), lowers cortisol (the stress hormone), and sends a 

calming signal to the brain, teaching the nervous system that although the 

child feels upset, they are actually safe in the present moment. Over time, this 

reduces the intensity of those thoughts and feelings. 

 

Why tapping works 

●​ Tapping on acupressure points calms the amygdala, the part of the 

brain that triggers fight, flight, or freeze. 

● ​It helps lower cortisol, the stress hormone that makes the body feel 

tense and jittery. 

● ​When tapping while focusing on negative thoughts and feelings, we are 

sending a calming signal to the brain. This teaches the brain that 

even though these thoughts and feelings are uncomfortable, the child is 

actually safe in this moment. 

● ​Over time, this calms the body when thinking about those negative 

events in the future, so they feel less overwhelming and not triggering.

 

(​In the first 3 rounds, Nova focuses only on the negative 

feelings (acknowledging and validating them). 

​This helps the brain feel understood before any positive reframing 

is introduced. If you were to say “ positive statements" your brain wont accept this. It knows you're still emotionally charged when thinking of the event, so to say “ Im fine this didn't upset me wont work. Your brain knows you're not.

When tapping while focusing on negative thoughts and feelings, we are 

sending a calming signal to the brain. This teaches the brain that 

even though these thoughts and feelings are uncomfortable, you are 

actually safe at this moment. Which releases the negative charge on the event. The Tapping also releases and dislodges and blocked motional energy in the body.)

 

Step by Step Using - Nova  


 

1.​ Introduce yourself and say eg.  “ Hi im Sam i am 12”  

Nova will ask for the password. 


2.​  Password – Nova always asks for the monthly password before 

starting. 

This month:  Anxiety123

​If the wrong password is entered, she gently reminds the user to 

check with a parent or teacher. 

3. ​Journal Entry – The child writes a few sentences about what happened, who was involved, how they feel any emotions that come up and any sensations the feel and where they feel them in their body. 

They then give a SUDS Rating – The child chooses a number (0 = calm, 10 = most intense). before the tapping begins they add this at the bottom of their journal entry before submitting. 

4. Nova then gives a 3 round personalised tapping script. You then follow the script that Nova created for you, Tapping the points and saying the phrases. At the end of tapping the 3 rounds.

5.​ Check-in – Nova says: That was 3 rounds. Lets check your SUDS 

score now.”  

Take a deep breath in through your nose for a count of 4 and out through your mouth for a count of 6 -8, notice how you now feel about the issue or memory you are working on. Then give Nova your new SUD score.

6. Nova ​repeats this whole process again if needed – If the number is still above 0-1, Nova creates another 3-round script, still focusing on negative feelings, bringing in some positive language until the child starts moving toward calm and the SUD score is a (0–1). Nova will keep producing tapping scripts until this point.
 

Example: School Anxiety 


 

Childs Journal Entry:​

Im nervous about school tomorrow. Im scared Ill get picked to read out loud 

and Ill mess up. My stomach feels tight and I keep thinking Ill embarrass 

myself in front of everyone.”​

Starting SUDS: 7/10 


 Safety Note

  • If your child is very stressed, get them to move around and jump and shake to move the energy, offering reassurance.
  • ​Encourage breaks and breathing. 
  • If they feel overwhelmed get them to take a break and go to their Safe space they created, one hand on their chest and one hand on the belly and take a deep breath in through the nose for the count of 4 and out through the mouth for the count of 6-8 seconds.
